Description	:	Betty Carolyn Miller, 76, of Sun Valley Drive, Boiling Springs, SC passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012. She was the widow of Joe Ray Miller who died in 2009. Mrs. Miller was the adopted daughter of Lance and Annie Lee McAbee Stevens and the beloved mother of three children. Read More	Betty Carolyn Miller, 76, of Sun Valley Drive, Boiling Springs, SC passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012. She was the widow of Joe Ray Miller who died in 2009. Mrs. Miller was the adopted daughter of Lance and Annie Lee McAbee Stevens and the beloved mother of three children. She was a pioneer in the concept of hospice and the right for death with dignity and no suffering. She attended Chesnee High School and graduated from the USC School of Nursing in 1979. She worked for Spartanburg Regional for many years and was a nurse on Hospice when it began and stayed there for 10 years. She completed her nursing career in the TB clinic at the Spartanburg Health Department. She was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and also a member of the Esther Sunday school class. In addition to being a class mother for all of her children, sewing clothing for many and devoting her time as a volunteer to many church related activities, she was an avid reader and gardener. She is survived by daughters and sons in law: JoAnn Marie Miller (Steven Pittman) of Spartanburg and Gina Lynne (Tim) Huskey of Boiling Springs; a son Steven Miller of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother: Lance Stevens, Jr. of Boiling Springs and two grandchildren: Kristen Miller and Rachel Huskey. Mrs. Miller was predeceased by a granddaughter: Lauren Mikael Miller. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Good Shepherd Memorial Park officiated by Rev. James Crocker. The family will be at the home of JoAnn Miller, 177 Woodcreek Drive, Spartanburg. The family wishes to thank the incredible caring staff on 1st floor Assisted Living at Skylyn Place.
