She was born on May 21, 1927, in Oakland, to Burlin Columbus and Elsie Hinebaugh Holler, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Rev. Don L. She was born on May 21, 1927, in Oakland, to Burlin Columbus and Elsie Hinebaugh Holler, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Rev. Don L. Jackson, on Oct. 4, 1985; her brother, Clifford Holler; and her sister, Peggy DiSimone. Betty is survived by three sons, Jerry L. Jackson and wife Lori, Nutter Fort, Rev. Jay K. Jackson and wife LeAnn, Longview, Texas, and Dr. Jeffrey B. Jackson and wife Barbie, Bridgeport, West Virginia; one sister, Rita Sweitzer; one brother, Larry Holler and wife Jill; one brother-in-law, Joe DiSimone; and one sister-in-law, Naomi Holler, all of Oakland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Jackson, Colin Jackson, Zachary Jackson, Kari Dixon, Garret Jackson, Becky Jackson, and Jonathan Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Jay Dixon, Madison Jackson, and Jude Dixon; a number of nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Betty was foremost a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an outstanding homemaker, cook, and baker. Family was always first and foremost for Betty. She retired from an extensive career as a medical office manager, first at the Garrett County Health Department and later for Dr. Fung, an ophthalmologist in Clarksburg, West Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. She was an active participant in the many churches served by her husband throughout his career in ministry. These activities included singing in the choir, participating in women’s circles, and teaching children’s Sunday school. Betty held many offices in the WSCS and United Methodist Women’s organizations, including president at both local church and district levels. In addition to church choirs, she was a former member of the Harrison County Chorus, played the piano, and sang in many trios and other ensembles. She was also formerly active in the Clarksburg Business Professional Women’s organization and volunteered at United Hospital Center. Betty was a perfectionist in every aspect of her life. She strived constantly to offer her best and instilled the same in her children. Her husband often credited her for helping him complete his seminary education and supporting him in all aspects of his ministry, including typing numerous papers and church bulletins. She took special pride in her baking, including years of exquisite cake decorating and countless other culinary creations. Her greatest joy was found with family, especially spoiling her grandchildren. She was also a selfless giver to all that she encountered with no expectations in return. The family would like to thank those who cared for Betty as her health deteriorated, especially the amazingly caring folks at Crestview Manor, who made her last days as pleasant and comfortable as could be imagined.
