Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. She was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Amherst to Allen Sr. and Bessie (Bunn) Parker. She grew up in the Amherst area and graduated from Amherst High School in 1953. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and then taught country school at Maple Grove north of Amherst. She was honored by the University of Nebraska at Kearney as an outstanding one-room school teacher. On June 2, 1956, she married Louis Zwiener in Amherst. She and her husband farmed southwest of Pleasanton. Her husband died in a farming accident in 1968, and she continued to manage the family farm. On April 5, 1986, Betty married Lee Rodehorst in Pleasanton. The couple farmed north of Kearney until moving to Kearney in 2014. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton, where she actively participated in the Altar Society and taught CCD classes. She was a member and served as an officer of the Pleasanton American Legion Auxiliary and had served on the Farmers Mutual Insurance board. She loved crocheting, gardening, reading and photography. She enjoyed attending numerous sporting and music events to support her children, grandchildren and community. Betty was passionate about her faith, her family and her family’s education. Surviving relatives include her husband, Lee of Kearney; daughters, Lorrie Moylan and husband Joseph of Elkhorn, Melanie Klingelhoefer of Amherst and April Roggasch and husband Roger of Riverdale; sons, Craig Zwiener and wife Teresa of Bennington and Shayne Zwiener and wife Denise of Pleasanton; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Roggasch; three brothers, Allen Parker Jr., Glen Parker and Francis Parker; and sister, Helen Turner. Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund to be established with Pleasanton Public Schools or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
