Description	:	Betty J. Earnest, 79, of Milford, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Seward. She was born on August 16, 1928 at Milford, the fourth child born to Benjamin and Emma (Hermann) Earnest. At the age of 14 she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized into the East Fairview Mennonite Church. Earnest, 79, of Milford, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Seward. She was born on August 16, 1928 at Milford, the fourth child born to Benjamin and Emma (Hermann) Earnest. At the age of 14 she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized into the East Fairview Mennonite Church. In later years she attended Beth-El Mennonite Church which was within walking distance of her residence. She attended Milford Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1946 from Milford High School. After high school, she commuted to Lincoln for employment and worked at Gold & Company and later Brandeis from 1947-1973. Her work experience included sales, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and the cash end of the Credit Office. Betty was a 15-year member of the Gold's Membership Club. When commuting was no longer feasible, Betty changed her work venue to Farmers and Merchants Bank, Milford where she was employed from October 1973 through 1992. She worked in bookkeeping, as a teller, and then as Head Bookkeeper. She enjoyed bookkeeping and the contact with people which her job afforded. The challenge of the unexpected kept Betty alert. Betty was honored as an Employee of the Month. After retirement in 1992, Betty volunteered at the Milford Senior Center. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary #171. Her hobbies included bicycling, tracing and recording family genealogy, photography, planning and implementing the Milford Class of 1946 reunions. She enjoyed studying geography and her subsequent travels by bus or airplane to California, Phoenix, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Denver, Illinois, and Kansas. One of Betty's many joys was her self-declared motherhood to her many nieces and nephews and their families. She looked forward with great anticipation to the annual Earnest reunion. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ralph Ebers, Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Mary Lou Earnest, Wichita, Falls, TX, sister-in-law, Dorothy Earnest, Seward, nieces and nephews and spouses, Sharon and Glen Gates, Glendive, MT, Vern and Susan Earnest, Denver, Judy Earnest, Seward, Ben and Linda Earnest, Seward, Michael and Rebecca Earnest, Denver, Evelyn Earnest, Lincoln, Kim and Brenda Stutzman, Harvard, Mary and Phil Hudson, Wichita Falls, TX, Fred Earnest, Pflugerville, TX, Billy Earnest, Austin, TX, Jody and Doug McLeese, Lincoln, Kevin and Siobhan Ebers, Southport, CT, Mike and Gina Ebers, Houston, TX, Kim Deitloff, Cincinnati, OH, many great nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Emma Earnest, brother, LaVern Earnest, sisters, Geraldine Bruns and Maxine Stutzman, nephews, James Stutzman, Reginald Stutzman, Wayne Stutzman, Jr, Claude Stutzman, niece, Beverly Wisehart, brothers-in-law, Harry Bruns and Wayne Stutzman. Celebration of Life: Friday, February 8, 2008 at Beth-El Mennonite Church, 115 North F Street, Milford, with Rev. Audrun Siebert officiating. Interment in East Fairview Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am ? 9pm Thursday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford and one hour prior to service at the church on Friday. Memorials have been established to either Beth-El Mennonite Church or East Fairview Mennonite Church.
