Description	:	Betty J. Brown, 87, of Mount Pleasant died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born Aug. 18, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Genhard C. and Maude Mae Johnson Menkens. On Aug. 24, 1941, she married Ivan C. Brown. Mrs. Brown farmed with her husband in West Chester, retired and moved to Mount Pleasant where they worked at the County Home, and she later worked for Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant until she retired to care for her husband. Brown, 87, of Mount Pleasant died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born Aug. 18, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Genhard C. and Maude Mae Johnson Menkens. On Aug. 24, 1941, she married Ivan C. Brown. Mrs. Brown farmed with her husband in West Chester, retired and moved to Mount Pleasant where they worked at the County Home, and she later worked for Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant until she retired to care for her husband. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant and member of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, where she was active for many years. Survivors include one son, Gilbert Brown of Adair; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, and her parents. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends. The funeral for Mrs. Brown will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joseph Phung and David Plooster officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. A memorial has been established.
