Betty was born on January 26, 1948 in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Glenn E. and Margaret L. (Young) Randolph. She graduated from Farragut High School with the class of 1966 and then attended Business College in Omaha, NE. Betty was united in marriage to Glenn R. Whitehead on April 23, 1967 at the United Methodist Church in Riverton, IA and they shared over 43 years of their lives together. Betty had worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebr. City, NE; Farmers Bank in Nebr. City and the bank in Riverton, IA. Most recently, she worked in the Fremont County Auditor's Office at Sidney, IA. She worked there for 22 years before retiring in December of 2008 as Deputy Auditor. Betty was a loving wife and mother. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and enjoyed being with them and attending their many activities and events. She was a member of the Riverton United Methodist Church and the Women's Guild; the American Legion Auxiliary, Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. (GWRRA), Boot Scooters Dance Group and the Sidney Monday Club. She loved to shop with her friends and was an avid cook. She is survived by her husband Glenn Whitehead of Riverton, IA; children Troy Whitehead and wife Monica and Terry Whitehead and wife Terri all of Riverton, IA; five grandchildren: Daniel Whitehead, Jed Whitehead, Triston Miller, Cameron Whitehead and Grant Whitehead; brother Wayne "Stormy" Randolph and wife Kay of Harlan, IA and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father on August 17, 1994 and her mother on April 26, 2004. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Riverton, IA with Rev. Jaye Johnson officiating; burial will follow at the Riverton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (10/3) at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton, IA. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of Riverton or the Riverton Fire/Rescue Dept.
