She was born May 20, 1930, in Wright, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Wilson and Ethel Maude Bidwell Street. Betty graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1948. She was born May 20, 1930, in Wright, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Wilson and Ethel Maude Bidwell Street. Betty graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1948. On July 19, 1948, she was married to Delbert J. Mitrisin at Oskaloosa, and they later divorced. Betty worked at Oskaloosa High School, for two years in the library and then for ten years as a teacher’s aide, and retired from the school in 1985. On October 25, 1980, she was united in marriage to Max Amber at Oskaloosa, and Max died April 28, 2006. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was also a Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Her family includes her four children, Elizabeth (Andrew) Fischinger of North Fort Myers, Florida, Diane (James) Maher of Houston, Texas, Angela (Kelly) Marshall of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Paul Mitrisin of Bellevue; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hirsch, Kip Marshall, Alex Marshall, and Jason Geiger; and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor Smith-Hirsch and Kurt Geiger. Besides her husband Max, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clifford, Raymond, and Charles Street; three sisters, Dorothy Liebus, Gladys McCaulley, and Edith Schmall; and a stepbrother, Clarence Jacobs. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, with Reverend John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa on Wednesday after 2:30 p.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. The Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa, is entrusted with the arrangements.
