Description	:	Betty J. (Babe) Lantow Varner, 62, 238 Gray St., died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday in Defiance Hospital. She had been infailing health for the past two and a half years. She was born in Cleveland on June 21, 1919, the daughter of Guy and Helen (Weidenhamer) Schmitt. In 1936, she married Gerald (Jack) Lantow, who died Feb. 7, 1969. In 1972, she married Jacob Varner, who survives. In 1972, she married Jacob Varner, who survives. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Catholic Nurses, Three Rivers Ceramics Association, Tri-State Artists Clubs, Greater New York Gotham City Artists Association and International Artist Association. She also was a past chairman of the Three Rivers Ceramic Show, Fort Wayne, a certified NCMA and Dunkan Ceramic Teacher, a board member of Northwestern Ohio Kidney Association and Northwestern Ohio Heart Association, the Defiance Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies Elks. She worked for many years at Defiance Hospital, in area nursing homes, and as a private nurse. She also owned and operated Caliramax Ceramics for nine years. Also surviving are four sons, Phillip Lantow at 236 Wilson St., Lynn Lantow in Boston and Scott and Loren Lantow, both at home; a daughter, Jacalyn Lantow at home; seven grandchildren. She also was preceded indeath by a son, Tom Lantow. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be a Riverview Memory Gardens.
