Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Chaplain Don Combs will officiate. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery, Dixon, Iowa. Betty Jane Carolyn Meyer was born February 21, 1925 in Clinton County, the daughter of Julius and Bertha (Lassch) Meyer. She married Darriel Mayerhofer on January 22, 1944, at the Buena Vista Church. She and Darriel farmed around the Big Rock area, until moving to Wheatland and then later to Dixon. In her early years, she helped her dad pick corn by hand to earn money for her wedding dress. She played cards for many years in the neighborhood card club and was a dedicated mother to her son Billy, who had muscular dystrophy and required daily care. She is survived by two daughters, Rita Mayerhofer of Lowden, and Jeanine Steines of Clarence; three grandchildren, Rhonda (Brant) Hubler, Robyn Nims, and Tiffany (Bill) Steines; four great-grandchildren, Jessy Hubler, Nytasha, Keynan and Jaylin Nims, and Xander Steines; three brothers, Herb Meyer of Dixon, Delmar (Carol) Meyer of Blue Grass, and LuVerne (Shirley) Meyer of Tipton; and one sister-in-law, Vivian Meyer of Big Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Billy Mayerhofer, two sisters, Ethel Moeller and June Sievers, and four brothers, Arnie, Ronald, Merlin and Milton Meyer.
