Read More	Betty Jane Gitt, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. She was born on September 29, 1927 in Mitchell, Nebraska to Richard H. and Ida (Derby) Knapp. She grew up in the Wilcox area, where she received her education from Wilcox High school, graduating with the class of 1947. On September 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Orval E. Gitt, and to this union, three children were born: Nancy, Cindy and Mike. The family made their home in the Wilcox area, where Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. In 1977, her husband, Orval passed away. Betty was a member of the Wilcox Community Church, the Four Corners Extension Club, and the Ladies Circle of the Wilcox Community Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school at church, reading, helping with vacation bible school, embroidery, travel, gardening, and spending time with her family. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Harriett Gitt and Ethel Alberts; two brothers during infancy: William and Richard; two brothers-in-law: Earl Gitt and Albert Alberts. She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters: Nancy Meade and her husband, Robert, and Cindy Gitt; and one son, Mike Gitt all of Holdrege, Nebraska; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
