She was born in Fulton County to Plake and Effie Mamie WENTZEL SLONAKER. On Feb. 27, 1943 she married William E. GOODMAN, who survives. She had been a chef at Youche Country Club, Crown Point, for 15 years and was a former employee at Kroger's. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Merrillville VFW Auxiliary, was a former president of the Gary VFW Auxiliary, a past-president of the District I VFW, and a former department cancer chairman for the VFW. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) HIGGINS and Debra GOODMAN, both of Hobart; three sons, William [GOODMAN], Hobart; Bruce [GOODMAN], Merrillville, and Joseph [GOODMAN], Rochester, and seven grandchildren. Preceding in death were two sisters, Noretta SEVARID and Johanna WARRAN, and a brother, Isaac [SLONAKER]. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Jack HARTMAN officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until services on Thursday.
