Description	:	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, December 1, 2010 Betty J. (Duncan) Cockrum, 82, of Wenatchee, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010. She was a lifelong Chelan County resident. Betty was born in Cashmere on December 7, 1927, to Robert Oras and Anna (Hightchew) Duncan. She was raised in Cashmere's Nahahum Canyon with her nine sisters and one brother and she married Herbert Allen Cockrum in 1946, in Wenatchee. Betty was born in Cashmere on December 7, 1927, to Robert Oras and Anna (Hightchew) Duncan. She was raised in Cashmere's Nahahum Canyon with her nine sisters and one brother and she married Herbert Allen Cockrum in 1946, in Wenatchee. They had two children, Dennis Allen Cockrum and Michael Earl Cockrum. Betty worked in the fruit industry for many years. She was also involved with the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW. She enjoyed shuffleboard and playing in the "kitchen" band, where they traveled around locally doing performances. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sharon) and Michael Cockrum; two grandchildren, Shawn (Kristy) Cockrum and Sundee (Andy) Sanders; and three great-grandchildren, Austin and Aiden Cockrum and Kannon Sanders. She is also survived by her sisters, Berdina Boone, LaVerne Carey and Elaine Files; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 1977; daughter-in-law, Sue, in 2006; her parents; brother, Clifford; and sisters, Leona Williams, Eunice Mathews, Anne Tucker, Rose Farmer, Thelma Bridges and Dorothy Carpenter. A Traditional Service will be held 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum on Friday, December 3, 2010. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Family and friends are invited to a Luncheon immediately following the Service at the American Legion, 208 N. Wenatchee Avenue, Wenatchee, WA.
