Description	:	Obituary from The Independent Record 10/30/2009: Betty Jean Shelton, 81, of Helena passed away peacefully Monday morning Oct. 26 at Rocky Mountain Care Center, where she had been a resident since June of this year. Prior to living in Helena she was in Billings for a short time. Betty was born in Buffalo Gap, S.D., May 28, 1928, to Otto and Alice (McClusky) Grubbs. She had a high-school education and attended one year at the University of Montana in Missoula. Betty and Thomas F. Shelton were married October 11, 1952, in Gulfport, Miss. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1998. Betty enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. She worked as a restaurant worker at Gordon's Restaurant in the 1970s and 1980s in Great Falls and Highlander Center 1990s in Helena. She was a member of the Westside Methodist Church in Great Falls and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Helena. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Grubbs, and her sister, Evelyn Grubbs. She is survived by her daughters, Barb Sharpe of Helena and Marge Drazich of Great Falls. She also has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren surviving her. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Retz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Retz Funeral Home Chapel.
