Description	:	Betty J. Smith King, 62, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Schuyler Hospital, Schuyler, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 3 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. Private family interment will be in held at later date in Iowa. The family will begin greeting friends on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Betty Jean King was born June 6, 1954, in Pisgah, Iowa, to Glenn and Evelyn (Brown) King. After high school graduation, Betty attended Beauty School and worked as a beautician for several years. On October 27, 1974, Betty was united in marriage to Eric Smith at the First Christian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple later divorced. In 1985, Betty moved to Columbus where she worked for the Columbus Theatres including the Columbus Drive-In Theatre. Due to a knee injury, Betty was forced to retire from the theatres. She enjoyed doing bead work, ceramics, and going to the casinos. Betty loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her dog. Betty is survived by: Son – Glenn (Rachael) Smith of Leigh, NE Grandchildren – Kyra, Ember, and Robert Smith Brother – Bob (Nancy) King of Missouri Valley, IA Brother – Richard King of Omaha, NE Betty was preceded in death by: Parents – Glenn and Evelyn King Daughter – Frances Smith
