Description	:	Betty Jean Groce, a long time resident of Oldham, passed away October 13, 2020 at Avantara Nursing Home in Arlington, just a few days short of her 92nd birthday. Betty was born October 16, 1928 to Ralph and Ruth Sapp in Iroquois and they later moved to a farm west of Oldham. She attended high school in Oldham and while there met the love of her life and future husband Loren Groce. She graduated in the spring of 1946 and married Loren on August 2nd of that same year. They farmed for a few... Read More	Betty Jean Groce, a long time resident of Oldham, passed away October 13, 2020 at Avantara Nursing Home in Arlington, just a few days short of her 92nd birthday. Betty was born October 16, 1928 to Ralph and Ruth Sapp in Iroquois and they later moved to a farm west of Oldham. She attended high school in Oldham and while there met the love of her life and future husband Loren Groce. She graduated in the spring of 1946 and married Loren on August 2nd of that same year. They farmed for a few years near Howard and east of Oldham where they had two sons, Gary and Floyd. Farming was tough and when that didn’t work they moved into Oldham where Betty was appointed Postmaster on June 26, 1971. She retired after 33 years and became a full time wife. Betty loved to read and walk, she was dedicated to walking 3 miles a day rain or shine. Many saw her out walking the country roads and would offer her a ride. Please don’t be offended if she refused because she was very dedicated.
