She grew up and attended grade school in Bonesteel before her family moved to Elkhorn, Nebraska, and she graduated with the 1950 high school class of Elkhorn. As a young girl, Betty spent a great deal of time with her dad working on the farm. Betty married Dean Bull in 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bennington. She later married Dale Thomas in 1975 at the Waterloo Presbyterian Church. Betty has lived in Elkhorn & Central City, Nebraska; Chino, California; Omaha, Bennington and back to Omaha, Nebraska. She worked many jobs over the years, but her most important roles were being a wife, mother and grandmother. Betty loved antiquing, making crafts, golfing, reading, and taking trips to the California beaches. She looked forward to spending time with Sue at the lake every summer. She always cheered for the Cubs and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and without a doubt attended all her grandchildren's activities. Betty was a feisty, independent, sincere loving woman who never wanted to burden anyone. Betty Jean Thomas passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Nebraska Medicine Center in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 83 years and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Lee Witt, husbands Pete Bull and Dale Thomas, and grandson Jacob Bull. Reverend Lance Berndt conducted the funeral at Zion Lutheran Church, 142nd and Ida, Omaha, Nebraska. Music was by Lynne Eifert, and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace", "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were: Nicholas, Tyler, and Cameron Christiansen; Tyler, Anthony, and Zachary Ratfield; Teddy Stietheit.
