Description	:	Betty L. Boerner, 81, of Nebraska City, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She was born May 11, 1925 in Benton, Arkansas, to Perry C. and Minnie (Bickford) Harding. The family moved to Nebraska City in 1930 and Betty graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1943. She married Ivan C. Boerner June 12, 1947 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Nebraska City. To this union one daughter, Susan Elizabeth, was born. Boerner, 81, of Nebraska City, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She was born May 11, 1925 in Benton, Arkansas, to Perry C. and Minnie (Bickford) Harding. The family moved to Nebraska City in 1930 and Betty graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1943. She married Ivan C. Boerner June 12, 1947 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Nebraska City. To this union one daughter, Susan Elizabeth, was born. Betty Boerner enjoyed sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. Her family always came first. She and Ivan enjoyed long weekend trips to Grand Island to visit their daughter and family, and to Laramie, Wyoming to see her brother. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nebraska City, Christian Mothers, VFW and American Legion auxiliaries and the NCHS Alumni Foundation Board. She retired as office secretary for the Nebraska City Rescue Squad after 18 years of service. Prior to that position, she worked at the former Nebraska City Grocery and Nebraska City Laundry. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Adalene, and brother Perry, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Ivan, of Nebraska City; daughter Susan E. Beilke and husband Daryl of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Darren, both of Grand Island; sister-in-law Virginia Grimes of Omaha; special niece Kay Harding of Jordan, Montana; two nephews, cousins, and many friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nebraska City, with Fr. Michael McCabe celebrating Mass. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City. Family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City. Memorials are suggested to the family or Nebraska City Rescue Squad. Gude Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
