Description	:	Betty L. Goffena passed away on Nov. 1, 2014, shortly after having a stroke. Betty was born on Oct. 8, 1924, in Melstone, the oldest child of Walter and Harriet Martin. She attended school in Melstone and Roundup. She enjoyed her time working at the Bungelow Café and then went to work for Louis W. and Bessie Goffena where she met her future husband, Wilbur. They were married in 1944 and were together for 52 years until Wilbur passed away in 1996. This union was blessed with five children. Betty was born on Oct. 8, 1924, in Melstone, the oldest child of Walter and Harriet Martin. She attended school in Melstone and Roundup. She enjoyed her time working at the Bungelow Café and then went to work for Louis W. and Bessie Goffena where she met her future husband, Wilbur. They were married in 1944 and were together for 52 years until Wilbur passed away in 1996. This union was blessed with five children. Betty was a talented seamstress who taught many 4H children how to sew. She loved flowers and took great pride in her yard and garden. She also helped lamb, feed and all the other chores a ranch wife is expected to do. She loved living on the ranch and spending time with her extended family. Betty had a great love for animals and took in many a stray. After raising her family, she took up bowling and painting. She loved travelling to bowling events and taking weekly painting lessons. She became a very accomplished painter. Her painting of the Montana Cattle Drive of 1989 was reproduced into prints. Her friends and family were the lucky recipients of much of her artwork. She donated many paintings to various charities for raffling. She was a lifetime active member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, and she donated the painting of Christ that hangs at their altar. For the past two years, Betty has lived at Canyon Creek Memory Care in Billings. The family would like to thank her caregivers who treated her with love and kindness. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; brothers, Robert and Richard Martin; sister, Donna Smith; and two infant siblings. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Roundup. Interment to follow at Roundup City Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Rimrock Humane Society, P.O. Box 834, or to their charity of your choice. Weir Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
