Description	:	Betty L. Stoecken, 77, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday evening, Feb. 18, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Friends and family called from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Stoecken, 77, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday evening, Feb. 18, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Friends and family called from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Betty was born on March 28, 1938, in Bellevue, daughter of the late George and Matilda “Tillie” (Ries) Ernst. She married Fredrick Stoecken on April 19, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Betty was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Joseph’s hot lunch program for over 25 years. She also volunteered at the senior center in Bellevue for 20 years. Betty was one of a kind, “she called a spade a spade.” She was good hearted and loved her family. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching sports, especially her beloved Cubbies. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Fred, of Bellevue; two sons, Kevin and Dean, both of Bellevue; and a daughter, Sara (Brent) Martens of Goose Lake; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loella “Babe” Carter and Bonnie Blake, both of Bellevue. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Deana Stoecken; three brothers, Ardell “Butch,” George Jr., and Eugene “Tuffy” Ernst; and two sisters, Mary Jane Ernst and Rosalyn “Toots” Hill. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.
