She was born March 13, 1924 at Keota to Frank and Ethel Gumm Lawson. She married Jack Sherod at Keosauqua on Oct. 27, 1940. He preceded her in death June 11, 1970. She married Ivan Mitchell April 12, 1974 at Farmington. She was employed a number of years at Barker Co., Ltd., Keosauqua. She was born March 13, 1924 at Keota to Frank and Ethel Gumm Lawson. She married Jack Sherod at Keosauqua on Oct. 27, 1940. He preceded her in death June 11, 1970. She married Ivan Mitchell April 12, 1974 at Farmington. She was employed a number of years at Barker Co., Ltd., Keosauqua. She was a member of the Jolly Housewives Club and State Line Saddle Club in Mount Sterling. Besides her husband, Ivan, of Bonaparte, she is survived by three daughters, Sheila Hoaglin of Canton, Mo.; Mary Ann Plemmons of Battletown, Ky., and Carol (husband Don) Mitchell Witte, Winston-Salem, N.C.; four sons, Donald (wife Phyllis) Mitchell, and Matt (wife Carol) Mitchell, all of Bonaparte; Mark (wife Karen) Mitchell of Salem and Todd (wife Brenda) Mitchell, Peosta; a sister, Dorothy Moore, and a brother, Robert (wife Betty) Lawson, all of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter, five sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery, west of Keosauqua. Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials to Van Buren County Hospital hospice room or nurses' lounge may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at No. 2, Vale View Circle, Bonaparte, 52620.
