Betty Lee (McCollum) Tasker Peshastin, WA Betty Lee (McCollum) Tasker, of Peshastin, WA, firstborn child of Walter and Reva (Granger) McCollum, arrived on June 6, 1941 and died at her home on June 27, 2015, with her family by her side. Her first home was the State Highway camp on Stevens Pass. Betty received her education from the Leavenworth school system and after graduating, she worked at the Leavenworth hospital, where she enjoyed the work and her co-workers. Betty met her future husband, Harold Russell Tasker, through a girlfriend and soon the wedding bells began to ring. They were married in May of 1961 and moved to Castlerock. There, Betty worked in a hospital and Harold worked for the Department Natural Resources. Their three children, Cheryl Lynn, Michael Russell and Teresa Marie, were born in Longview Hospital during the years they spent in southern Washington. They moved back to the Wenatchee Valley in the 1970’s and settled in Peshastin. Betty worked in a fruit warehouse for most of her adult life. She enjoyed the job and the co-workers. Betty was always ready to offer a helping hand and a shoulder. What she lacked in resources she gave of herself. Betty is survived by her children, Cheryl Tasker, Michael Tasker and his children, Logan and Keegan, Teresa (Kevin) Amarel and their children, Nicole (Aaron) Jacobs and Dyllan Amarel; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Maliha and Braden Jacobs. She is also survived by her brother, John McCollum and his son, Shon McCollum; her sister, MaryAnn (Roger) and their children, Eric McNees and Tiffany McNees and their children, Christina and Emory. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A Graveside Service of Commemoration to celebrate the life of Betty Lee Tasker, will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Mountain View Cemetery in Leavenworth at 4:00 p.m. Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.
