Mrs. Pudenz, 72, died of an apparent heart condition Friday, Feb. 6, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. The Rev. James McCormick will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Dan Lychwick. Gift bearers will be Taryn, Tessa and Tia Bernholtz, Calvin and Jamie Pudenz and McKenzie Leonard. Servers will be Matt and Marc Schulte and Lisa Stork. Visitation started at 2:30 and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas led a rosary at 3 this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 tonight at the funeral home. A daughter of William J. and Louise M. (Wessling) Fasbender, she was born Jan. 13, 1932, at Lake City and spent her younger years there, graduating from Lake City High School. She played basketball at Lake City High and softball in the former Carroll women's softball league. She and Norman Pudenz were married Nov. 28, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Auburn. They farmed the Pudenz family farm four miles east of Mount Carmel until 1994, when they moved to their home in Carroll. Mrs. Pudenz was a homemaker. She was a member, choir participant, Eucharistic minister and Altar Sodality member at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish; a member and officer of the Breda American Legion Auxiliary; and member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Compassionate Friends. Mrs. Pudenz volunteered at New Hope Village and the Carroll City Softball Association. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, baking, playing cards, sewing, crafts, walking, biking, bowling, polka dancing and all sporting events. Survivors include her husband, Norman Pudenz, of Carroll; eight children: Pat Marshall and her husband, Rich, of Omaha, Neb., Cheryl Lychwick and her husband, Dan, of Fort Dodge, Diane "Pudy" Pudenz of Carroll, Marlene Leonard and her husband, Mike, of Carroll, Dean Pudenz and his wife, Michelle, of Carroll, Larry Pudenz and his fiancee, Paula Carlyle, of Auburn, Lynn Pudenz and his wife, Missy, of Carroll and Carol Bernholtz and her husband, Jeff, of Estherville; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth Fitzgerald and her husband, David, ofWest Grove, Pa., and Jean Daniel of Carroll; a brother, Bob Fasbender, and his wife, Joleen, of Carroll; and her mother-in-law, Teresa Pudenz, of Carroll. Mrs. Pudenz was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bill Pudenz, in 1986; a brother, George Fasbender; and a father- in-law, William Pudenz.
