Born 1927 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Baxter C. and Bessie (Crable) Harsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James J. Lindner in 1987; two brothers, Paul in 1983, Baxter in 1987; and one sister, Elma (Harsh) Duer in 1992. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, Michael J. Read More	- FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- Betty Lou (Harsh) Lindner, 82, of Frostburg, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born 1927 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Baxter C. and Bessie (Crable) Harsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James J. Lindner in 1987; two brothers, Paul in 1983, Baxter in 1987; and one sister, Elma (Harsh) Duer in 1992. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, Michael J. Lindner, Eldersburg; her very loving in-law family; as well as many good friends. Betty Lou was a registered nurse. She graduated from Allegany Hospital in 1950. She touched many lives as she worked in her profession. She was office assistant for Dr. S.G. Weisman; Public Health Nurse for the State of Maryland, General Duty and Nursing Supervisor, Sacred Heart Hospital. She was Health Occupation Instructor, Allegany County Vocational-Technical Center; Instructor, Licensed Practical Nursing Program, Johnstown, Pa.; Assistant Director, Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, Pa.; Supervisor and Department Head, Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville; retiring from this position in 1991 to move to Asheville, N.C. to be near her sister. She returned to Cumberland after the death of her sister. Betty Lou was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was actively involved with Sacred Heart Hospital Nurses Alumni. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
