Betty was born on March 9, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas , to Cecil and Sarah Hutchinson Majors. Betty grew up in Wichita . She married Charles Henry Makepeace, on April 12, 1963, in Wichita. After their marriage, they made their home in Burlington. She had worked at the Life Care Center, then she and Charlie owned and operated the C &B Bar and Grill, 1998 until 2003, and finally worked in the kitchen at the Coffey County Hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary #2287, in Emporia, Kansas. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles, on April 4, 2003. Betty is survived by her daughters, Barbara Meyers, of Jacksonville, AR, Vickie Combes and her husband Pernell, of Lebo, Donna Bell and her husband Jeff, of Topeka, and Marcia Scott and her husband Lane, of Bonner Springs, three sisters, Linda Alter and her husband Don, of Wichita, Pat Reed and her husband Guy, of Olathe, and Anna Peck and her husband Robert, of Raytown, MO, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, KS. The family will meet with friends on Monday, 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Contributions to the American Diabetes Association, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
