She passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Rowley Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa. She was raised in Johnston, Iowa and graduated from Johnston High School in 1945. In 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold Gandy in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in Johnston for many years. They then lived in Minneapolis for a short time before moving to Milwaukee. … They then moved to Plano, TX before moving to Lake Panorama, Panora, Iowa in 1986. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage, golfing, being in her garden, and growing her Dahlias, where she won several blue ribbons at the Iowa State Fair. She was also a great cook and baker. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Guthrie Center. She is survived by her husband, Harold Gandy; sons, Jim (Barb) Gandy of Austin, TX and John Gandy of Beaumont, TX; four grandchildren; and sister, Margaret (Jason) Beck of Panora. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Susan Gandy, brothers Donald & Robert, and sister Arlene Murray. Betty lived 87 years, 2 months and 25 days.
