Description	:	"Betty Louise Waltermeyer was born on July 7, 1930 in Clarinda, the daughter of Clarence E. Rucker and Florence Mae (Bramble) Rucker. She passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 11 at the Hooper Care Center at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 4 days. Growing up in Clarinda, Betty attended the Clarinda Community Schools. She passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 11 at the Hooper Care Center at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 4 days. Growing up in Clarinda, Betty attended the Clarinda Community Schools. Graduating from Clarinda High School with the class of 1948. On Sept. 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to Boyd H. Waltermeyer in Kewanee, Wisconsin. They moved around quite often due to Boyd’s employment. They lived in Wisconsin, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico and Georgia. They eventually made their way back to Betty’s hometown, Clarinda. Betty enjoyed camping, working in the yard, growing flowers, and in her words (liked to putter). She was also known to change curtains and rearrange furniture on a regular basis. She definitely had a special talent of decorating. Proceeding Betty in death were her parents; her husband, Boyd; and three brothers, Lee, Donald and Lowell. Survivors include her children, Leslie Lawson and his wife Linda of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, Nancy May and her husband Gerald of Fremont, Nebraska, Teresa Mather and her husband Jim of Prague, Nebraska, Tami Slough and her husband Scott of College Springs; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Pat Macrander of Ashland, Nebraska, two brothers Robert Rucker and his wife Dorothy of Bedford and Keith Rucker of Cheyenne, Wyoming; along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Burial was in the Memory Cemetery. Memorial are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in Betty’s name. Online remembrances or condolences can be shared at www.swimemorial.com.
