King Walter, 62, of Hamburg died at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 4, 1987, at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg. She was born May 8, 1925, in Ottumwa to Coy and Ada Chance Sherman. King Walter, 62, of Hamburg died at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 4, 1987, at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg. She was born May 8, 1925, in Ottumwa to Coy and Ada Chance Sherman. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg. A 1943 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she had worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Ottumwa and Blakesburg and was the acting postmaster in Blakesburg. She married Floyd W. King on July 15, 1945, in Ottumwa. He died in 1977. She married the Rev. Norman Walter on May 31, 1987, in Ottumwa. She is survived by her husband; four sons, David L. King of Kansas City, Mo., Stephen L. and Gary L. King of Blakesburg and Phillip L. King of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepdaughters, Michelle McClellan of Ottumwa and Teresa Walter of Mount Pleasant; and four grandchildren. The service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim of Willard Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David, Steven, Phillip and Gary King, Tim McClellan and Jim Claybrook. The casket will be closed as the service begins. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9: p.m. today. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church in Hamburg.
