Betty Mae Barstad was born February 27, 1930 in rural Grafton, ND the daughter of Eddie and Esther (Dagmar) Barstad. She grew up in the Grafton area and as a small child, loved playing outdoors and picking berries. In her later years, Betty loved to travel to visit her family, putting together puzzles, sitting outside on her deck and talking on the telephone. Boushey, 83, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully Saturday, September 21, 2013 in the comfort of her home. Betty Mae Barstad was born February 27, 1930 in rural Grafton, ND the daughter of Eddie and Esther (Dagmar) Barstad. She grew up in the Grafton area and as a small child, loved playing outdoors and picking berries. In her later years, Betty loved to travel to visit her family, putting together puzzles, sitting outside on her deck and talking on the telephone. Betty was a gentle soul and a very compassionate person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a cancer survivor of 22 years. We all know today that she is in Heaven looking down on all of us and smiling, knowing she brought as much joy into our lives as we brought into her life. She is survived by her daughters, Janis Eddy, Springfield, MO, Elizabeth Corbid, Grand Forks, ND, Karen Boushey, East Grand Forks, MN, Kimberley (Douglas) Morgan, Lakeville, MN; stepchildren, Lynette (Terrence) Hofland, Eugene (Jody) Boushey, all of East Grand Forks, MN; a sister, Dolores Slominiski, East Grand Forks, MN; a brother, Glen (Genevieve) Barstad, St. Louis Park, MN; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James Corbid and Eugene Boushey; daughters, Ann Chester and Katherine Boushey; a brother, Kenneth Barstad; son-in law, Kenneth Eddy; Fiancé of Karen, Wayne Grochow and brother-in-law, Walter Slominski. Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service in the funeral chapel on Thursday.
