Hieb, Sioux Falls, SD, died March 25, 2022, at Good Samaritan, Lennox, SD. She was 89. Betty Hieb, 89, was born on May 30 ,1932 to Peter and Opal Dorsman. She graduated from Canova High School. After graduation she moved to Sioux Falls, SD. She married Marvin Hieb on September 12, 1953, in Minor County, SD. They were married 1 week shy of 40 years. Betty worked a variety of jobs in her career. She was a stay-at-home Mom until the girls were in school and then worked in the Lunchroom at Lincoln High School, she was the secretary at United Daycare, and she ended her career at age 85 at RJ Reiss /Vallet Cleaners as the Alteration Lady. She than became the RA at Sunny Crest in her retirement. Betty was an avid bowler and received the Meritorious Service award in 2006 and received the Hall of Fame award in 2006. She was also recognized for 30 years in bowling by the United States Bowling Congress in 2010. She served as the secretary for the Sioux Falls Bowling Association. She loved to sew, crochet, and make beautiful quilts. She also loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin and her parents, and in –laws. Grateful for sharing her life are her loving daughters Cindy Thompson, her daughter Carrie, son in law Joe and great grandson Payton. Her daughter Sue Hieb-Stewart, her husband Ronald and her children Spencer and Mason. She is also survived by her sisters Rosetta Gehring, Jean Kroeger and Carol Brynjulson along with brothers Donald (Mary) and Ronald as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue (81st and Minnesota Ave.) The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 Friday evening, April 8, at the Southside Chapel. - Miller Funeral Home
