Born December 1, 1930 in Boone, Iowa, Betty was the only child of Newton and Pearl Zerr. She married Roland Joseph Bimbi at St. Malachy's Catholic Church on August 6, 1949, and throughout their 66 years of marriage, she "never stopped having that feeling for him." Read More	Betty Thelma Zerr Bimbi, 84, peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Woodlands Creek Retirement Community in Clive, Iowa. Born December 1, 1930 in Boone, Iowa, Betty was the only child of Newton and Pearl Zerr. She married Roland Joseph Bimbi at St. Malachy's Catholic Church on August 6, 1949, and throughout their 66 years of marriage, she "never stopped having that feeling for him." Betty dedicated herself to being a warm homemaker and attentive mother. She enjoyed playing (and winning) card games with her grandchildren and outings to the racetrack to cheer on the gray ponies in particular. Betty was often in the kitchen preparing family favorites, including "the bars," "the dip," and an assortment of pies. Her family will think of her with delight as they continue their annual tradition of twisting homemade tortellini for Christmas Eve dinner. Betty made friends easily wherever she went, including at the local Italian market and Fareway grocery where she was fondly known as the "cheese lady" due to her special orders of brick cheese. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband Roland and daughters Cheryl (Steve) Gonseth of Urbandale, Joanie (Doug) Tassi of Kansas City, MO, Theresa (Randy) Carper of Parkton, MD, and Mary Lou (Mike) Killebrew of Windsor Heights. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren Valerie (Hassan Bethea) Bimbi, Sean (Elizabeth) Tassi, Daniel (Megan) Carper, Natalie (Aaron) Gendle, Jason (Sarah) Tassi, Jessica (Clay Davis) Carper, and Kyle (Brittney) Sanger. Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Gonseth, and is survived by great-grandchildren Violet, Greta, Preston, Sophie, Oliver, and August.
