She was born August 31, 1931, in Taylor, NE to Theodore and Lila (Patterson) Goos. Betty was the oldest of the seven Goos children. She grew to adulthood in Taylor, graduating from Loup County High School in 1949. Betty worked as a nanny in Lincoln, Nebraska and stayed with that family while attaining her teaching degree from UNL. She was teaching in Ericson, Nebraska, when she met Robert William Daudt, who was serving in the United States Air Force. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1953 and moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where Bob was stationed. Upon Bob's discharge, they returned to Loup County where Betty again taught school at Cummings Park in Custer County and Bob farmed and ranched. During the construction of the Calamus Reservoir in the 1980s she was a secretary for one of the construction companies. In later years, they moved to Chambers where they both worked at the Foxley Cattle Company feedlot where Betty worked in the office until their retirement. Two years ago they moved to Blair, Nebraska to be closer to family. Betty was a very talented piano player and played for school, 4-H, and church events. She also played piano as a member of the Roy Nightingale Band of Burwell, Nebraska. In her later years, students she had taught reached out to visit with her and share stories and memories of her teaching them as young children. Betty loved get-togethers with family whether it be Christmas, Big Bang Boom in Norfolk, family reunions in North Loup, or just getting to see her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren or her or Bob's siblings and their extended families. Her children hosted a special joint celebration in Chambers, Nebraska in September of 2019 for their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary and their birthdays. She especially enjoyed the marching band competitions at the Dakota Dome where she watched grandchildren compete over the years. Betty had a special love for all her grandchildren and enjoyed taking different ones on summer vacations to many different states, to pick apples at Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City or just on a quick trip to see something she thought was special. She enjoyed reading and was an excellent cook (her grandkids still talk about her brownies) until her eyesight failed in later years. Despite no longer being able to read, Betty kept well informed by listening to news programs and could discuss politics and world events with anyone. She was known for her generosity, donating to anyone down on their luck or having health issues, giving to special causes, and especially donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Left to mourn her passing are husband, Bob of Blair, NE; daughter, Debbie Postany (Steve) of Taylor, NE; daughter, Lisa Hoffman (Kevin) of Chambers, NE; daughter, Laurie Robinson (Jeff) of Blair, NE; son, Robert (Ann) of Plainview, NE; two sisters, Janet Mignery (Dave) of Bartlett, NE, Sonja Bykerk (Ed) of Taylor, NE; brother, Roger Goos (Betty) of Taylor, NE; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Ted and Lila; three brothers: Richard, Larry and Teddy Goos; infant son, Dennis Robert.
