Beard was born in Claremore, Indian Territory, April 27, 1885, and departed this life at her home, Glasco, Kas., April 25, 1911. She has no kin closer than those related thro marriage, her father, mother, one brother, and one sister, having preceded her to That Other Country. Beard was born in Claremore, Indian Territory, April 27, 1885, and departed this life at her home, Glasco, Kas., April 25, 1911. She has no kin closer than those related thro marriage, her father, mother, one brother, and one sister, having preceded her to That Other Country. After the death of her mother, Miss Beard made her home with her sister, and moved with the family to Colorado in 1908. She was united in marriage to Wm. Matthews at Denver, Colorado, Jan. 1, 1909, and since that time has made her home in our pretty little Valley City. During her residence here she made a host of friends, who were greatly shocked and grieved to hear of her sudden demise, none realizing the seriousness of her short illness. She was one of the best women, always speaking kindly of everyone, and presiding in her home as a Queen, endearing herself to her husband and step-children. After a short but severe struggle for life she followed the Grim Visaged Messenger, without murmuring, having been bedfast from her illness but four days. The funeral services were at the house, Friday, April 28, 1911, under the direction of A.G. Sutcliff. Burial at the City Cemetery. Card of Thanks We wish to thank those who so kindly rendered assistance during the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother, and so tenderly proved their sympathy at the time of her death.
