Description	:	Services for Beulah Florence Renken, 87, of Newman Grove, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Le Mars, Iowa, with burial to follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Newman Grove Memorial Funeral Home. She died Monday, May 9, 2016, at Countryside Home in Madison. Beulah was born in Mapleton, Iowa, on Aug. 12, 1928, to Richard and Frances (Ruchti) Sonksen. She attended rural school through the eighth grade, graduating from high school in Mapleton, Iowa, in 1945. She then attended college in Le Mars, Iowa, Wayne State and Northeast Community College in Norfolk, and graduated from Dana College in Blair in 1976. She was joined in marriage to Lester Renken on Feb. 1, 1948, in Mapleton, Iowa, and together they had four children. She was a school teacher for 40 years and an additional 18 years as a substitute teacher. She was a member of Looking Glass United Methodist Church in rural Newman Grove. Survivors include her children, Daryl (Diane) Renken of Biggsville, Illinois, Stan (Patti) Renken of Monroe, Karen Reynolds of Malden, Massachusetts, and Sharon (Tim) Morava of Marsland; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Mary, Anna and Fern; and brothers, Walter, Marvin and Elmer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ethel Renken. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; one sister, Mildred; and parents, Richard and Frances. The Columbus Telegram, May 12, 2016
