Interment was Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebraska. ----------------- Beulah DeHart Beulah Lucretia (Wickizer) DeHart passed away Friday morning, Dec. 6, 2013, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial, Neb. Beulah was the youngest of 10 children born to Theodore Foster Wickizer and Jessie May (Cordwell) Wickizer on March 19, 1925. Beulah was born at home on her parents' farmstead north of Max, Neb. She grew up north of Max, attending District 30 Elementary Country School through the eighth grade. Her family moved to Wauneta, Neb., where she attended Wauneta High School through the 10th grade. On Aug. 1, 1941, Beulah married Mason F. DeHart at the Methodist Church in Goodland, Kan. Beulah and Mason lived in Wauneta 54 years. They were blessed with four children: Genevieve Lucille, Margaret Elaine, Mason Floyd, Jr., and William Duane. Beulah was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved each of her children, her eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and was very proud of them. Beulah had a passion for cooking and baking, so she hosted many family holiday dinners. She was an excellent baker, always baking her breads, cinnamon rolls, cakes and pies from scratch instead of using mixes. Her grandchildren praised her saying that grandma's cooking was the best they had ever eaten. It was never a problem for Beulah to feed extra people in her home, and nobody ever left her home hungry. She was a very caring, compassionate woman who made everyone feel welcome in her home. Beulah counseled her four children with good advice to help them through life. Her favorite was: "If you can't say something nice, then do not say anything at all." To keep them from ruining their reputations, she advised them to be careful who they spent most of their time with, and not to run with the wild kids because "You know, birds of a feather flock together." Her best remembered motto that she lived out in her life was: "If they can live with it, I can live without it." Even though Beulah worked hard raising four children with Mason, she still worked outside the home to help out financially. She worked as a sales clerk, was a waitress in several cafes, bookkeeper for Johnston's Hardware Store/Funeral Home in Wauneta and Cozad, Nebr. In her semi-retirement years, Beulah worked for the T-Junction restaurant in Imperial, and also Enders Lake Country Club restaurant as a waitress. Beulah did not have an easy life, she had her share of heart breaks throughout her life. Nothing she acquired here on earth ever came easy for her. She worked very hard for everything she had and got it honestly. Beulah enjoyed being a member of the Coffee Club Girls that she had lots of good times with. She was in a square dance club with her husband Mason and they enjoyed going to square dances with other couples from Wauneta. Beulah had crocheted many beautiful Afghans for her family, hand made many beautiful quilts and did a lot of textile painting with her friends. Each year Beulah raised a large garden so she could can the produce from it and raised chickens to feed her family. She loved canning beef so she could make a quick homemade dinner to feed people who stopped in to visit her family. There was never a person turned away from Beulah's table, she always insisted they join her family for a meal as there was enough food for all to enjoy. Beulah's home was a place where family and friends congregated for coffee, fellowship and great meals. In her late 70's she still took great pride in caring for her large lawn and flower beds by herself. As the Parkinson's disease progressed she had to give up her yard work and hire her lawn service done. That was an unexpected blow to Beulah as it was hard to give up working hard each day. Beulah was a beautiful, strong woman, who would tackle any job, no matter how hard. She was a perfectionist, always attending to every detail to make sure the job was done right. She will be forever beautiful in our memories, a woman who had a very strong will to succeed in life even though she had a very limited education. Living through the tough times of the Great Depression years as a child had been forever burned into her memory and that drove her to work harder to better herself in life with great class. Beulah resided the past four years in the Imperial Heights and Imperial Manor in Imperial. She made new friends in the assisted living and rest home and reconnected with some old friends from Wauneta while residing there. Three years ago, Beulah trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She attended church at the Imperial Manor Chapel for the past four years. Pastor Martin Harmon and his wife, Dell, were her close friends as well as her pastor who called on her weekly at the Manor. Pastor Harmon said it well upon hearing of Beulah's passing away, "She just graduated into Heaven. Praise the Lord!" We pay a special Tribute to our mother and grandmother, Beulah: "Mom, you always made us very proud, and through it all you were always a very classy lady. You will never be forgotten, nor will the lessons you taught us throughout life." Beulah was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Wickizer; mother, Jessie Wickizer; husband, Mason DeHart; son, William DeHart; son-in-law, Donald L Magee; brothers: Harold, Theodore (Teddy), Tommy, Clarence (Bud), Ernest and Leo; sisters: Helen May, Opal Troxel and Mabel Peppler. Survivors include her daughters: Genevieve L. Magee of Atwood, Kan., and Margaret E. and husband, Bob Stamm, of Benkelman, Neb.; son, Mason F. DeHart, Jr. of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Vicky Lee DeHart of Laramie, Wyo.; eight grandchildren: Angela Kay Magee Eades, Albert (Mac) DeHart, Jimmy L. DeHart, Franklin E Stamm, Chad L. Magee, Michelle DeHart, Ryan W Stamm, Traci Goddard; 11 great grandchildren: Melissa (Dorries) Allison, Justin Dorries, Nathan DeHart, Austin Dorries, Shantel Dorrees, Seth DeHart, Cutter DeHart, Reid DeHart, Justin Stamm and JayCee Goddard; brother and sister-in-law, Loran and Irene Wright of Palisade, Neb.; sister-in-law, Joan Church of Fort Collins, Colo. Also left to mourn her passing are many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Liewer Funeral Home Wauneta, Neb., from 2 to 6 p.m. MT. Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Wauneta, Neb., at 11 a.m. MT with Martin Harmon and Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating. Organist was Mrs. Diana Ham. Musical selections included "How Great Thou Art" by Alan Jackson; "Go High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill; and "The Lord's Prayer" by Elvis Presley. The congregational hymn was "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Casket bearers were Mac DeHart, Jim DeHart, Franklin Stamm, Ryan Stamm, Nathan DeHart and Reid DeHart. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta. A memorial has been established to the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, resident's fund. Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
