Also surviving are sons-inlaw, Mearl Ohrt and Bob Eden; five grandchildren, Scott Ohrt, Ramo (Shane) Ohrt, Shelly Ohrt and friend Rex, all of the Sanborn-Primghar area, Michael Hughes and girlfriend Jessica of Burlington and Renee (Rick Jr.) Hughes Strait of Cedar Rapids; three stepgrandchildren, Alan (Deliah) Eden of Balch Springs, Texas, Daniel Eden of Dallas/Rowlett, Texas and Darla (Mike) Eden Mcelyea of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Menno in April 1966; seven brothers and four sisters. Jackie was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Hopkinton, Iowa, to Olin and Alice (Eye) Thomas. She lived her youth in the Hopkinton and Hardscrabble area, receiving her education in a country school near Hopkinton. She was united in marriage to Menno Otten on Jan. 7, 1937, and they built a home in rural Anamosa beside his brother, Carl Otten. During her lifetime, Jackie was employed by the shirt factory in Anamosa, as a substitute mail carrier, with her husband Menno on his cream route and did a lot of wallpapering jobs. In 1984, Jackie moved to the Sanborn area, where she again owned a small home she treasured. For the last 12 years she was a happy resident of the Primghar Country Estates, visited often by her family and friends. Jackie's special interests included flowers, crocheting, reading, bowling and garage sales. She cherished the times she could spend with her family and friends.
