Description	:	Beverly A (nee Hanks) McMahon, 88, died on Aug. 28, 2019, due to pancreatic cancer. Beverly was born to Harold and Edna Thompson Hanks in rural Kelley, Iowa. She attended Napier School through sixth grade and then moved to Huxley, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1948. She married Robert (Bob) McMahon on June 30, 1948, and they resided in the Ames, Iowa area the rest of their lives. Read More	Beverly A (nee Hanks) McMahon, 88, died on Aug. 28, 2019, due to pancreatic cancer. Beverly was born to Harold and Edna Thompson Hanks in rural Kelley, Iowa. She attended Napier School through sixth grade and then moved to Huxley, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1948. She married Robert (Bob) McMahon on June 30, 1948, and they resided in the Ames, Iowa area the rest of their lives. She and her husband, Bob, owned and operated the dinner restaurant Chefs Inn located in west Ames, and she also had a kitchen shop called Cooks Corner for 12 years. She was a member of Collegiate Methodist Church, PEO Chapter LN, Order of the Knoll, Mary Greeley Auxiliary, Neighborhood Bible Study and Reiman Gardens. She volunteered at Mary Greeley for more than 26 years and had worked more than 2,000 hours plus volunteering at Reiman Gardens for four years. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Jim) Lundberg of Omaha, and Judy Snyder; of Ames; and one daughter-in-law, Janet McMahon, of Ames. She had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She has two living sisters, Nancy Coons and Joan Georgeon, and one brother, Dean Hanks. She had many nieces and nephews including two special nieces from California who helped care for her at the end of her life. Her husband of 54 years, Bob preceded her in death as well as her companion, H(Harold) Newell, of nine years, her son, Bryan McMahon, son-in-law Art Snyder, parents Edna and Harold Hanks, and sisters Lucille Heidmiller and Stella Miller. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Collegiate Methodist Church in Ames. A reception will be after the service. There will be a private interment for family at the Ontario Cemetery, Ames, Iowa.
