Beverly was born in San Francisco, Ca. to the late Carl Burckhardt Reeves and Mary Jane Smyth, dependents of California pioneers. Read More	Beverly Reeves Watts of Willows passed away peacefully at Windchimes Assisted Living in Chico Ca. with her family by her side on Friday September 27, 2019 at the age of 94. Beverly was born in San Francisco, Ca. to the late Carl Burckhardt Reeves and Mary Jane Smyth, dependents of California pioneers. Her schooling started at Laguna Honda in the city, then on to Andrew Jackson and Dudley Stone Schools. At age 5 she started piano lessons from her Aunt Augusta Gillespie, who had been a student of Leschetsky in Vienna and active in San Francisco music world. She studied ballet and acrobatics, and at Berkley High School took dramatics and was in school plays and operettas. For fun she took figure skating lessons. She attended Herald’s Business College for one year and worked for the Navy Department at Alameda, then entered the University of California at Berkley where she majored in Spanish. By that time WWII had changed everyone’s plans. The University reverted to a three-term year in order to accommodate the returning war veterans and college was overcrowded. Inasmuch as Beverly worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture during the summers, she found it necessary to work permanently and could not continue the four years. She then worked for W.R. Grace, a shipping import-export company in San Francisco for several years. She also learned to fly during that time, earning her student’s pilot license and soloed at Concord Airport. Over the years she and her family kept in touch with her mother’s relatives in Willows. Beverly was introduced to her cousins at the Michael Ranch at age 1. Eventually she met and married Calvert Lee Cecil. Jr of Willows and lived on his father’s ranch in Glenn County where they framed rice. There they built their home and raised two sons, Davis and Donald Cecil until they divorced in 1958. Beverly moved to Paradise to live with her parents while her boys attended Paradise Schools and later the Palo Alto Military Academy. The boys always said “it’s a good school Mom, but we wish it were closer to home. “Upon her older son’s graduation from the academy they returned to Willows. Beverly married secondly Dr.F. Joseph Watts and returned to Willows to reside and the boys returned to attend local schools. Being married to an extremely busy Willows physician and surgeon, she filled her free hours with the PTA, Willows Swim Team, Willows High School Track team, Glenn County Golf Club and the Mildred Knowles Guild of Holy Trinity Church. About this time the doctor’s three sons came to spend the summers and eventually two of the boys lived with them while attending college. At times there were five sons and many days more than that were at the dinner table. Beverly was President of the Lambkin Chapter Children’s Home Society and recently became a 50-year member of the Willows Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. In the DAR she served twice as Regent of then local society, District 1 Director, State Society and received National appointments for ten years. She was a member of Old Plymouth Colony, Magna Charta Dames and many other old lineage societies. She compiled death records of Glenn County, Ca 1891-1940 and submitted them to the local library and California State Library. She wrote a genealogy “Redman’s in America” placing it in five national libraries and many other family genealogies were placed in the DAR Library in Washinton DC. She represented the National Society of DAR as a Correspondent Docent, giving programs for Museum in Washington DC and served on the National Speakers Staff. Beverly enjoyed many hunting trips with her husband Joe and when all the boys were in college, Joe and Beverly started traveling to foreign lands, sometimes looking for ancestral records and studying cultures of other lands. In 1990 after a busy and active life they were to slow down and enjoy their family and each other’s company. They spent many hours sharing memories of their 52 years together, until Joe’s death in 2010. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents’ Carl and Mary Jane Reeves of Paradise, sister Mary Jane Jennings of Napa, Ca, and husband Dr. F. Joseph Watts of Willows, Ca. Surviving are sons David Cecil of Chico, Donald Cecil of Willows, step- sons Dr. Paul Michel Watts of Willows, Gray Watts of Arizona, Gregory Watts of Willows, grandchildren Dawn Cecil Hampton of Chico, Logan Cecil of Chico, Kelly Cecil Wright of Folsom ,Mary Cecil Bromley of Chico, Ashlee Watts Boise of Willows, Jacob Joseph Watts of Sacramento , Karli Aegar of Arizona ,great grandchildren Quincy Wright, Kamden and Hayden Boise, Dante Watts, Alyssa Watts, Bennett C Watts, Kade, Gemma & Hawkins Aegar; and one niece Sarah Jennings Luebke. Arrangements by F.D. Sweet &b Son, Willows Ca, per her Request no service, graveside ceremony private with family members.
