Beverly Joan Hannah, daughter of Theodore (Ted) and Francis McKee Hannah was born August 12, 1935, in Shenandoah, Iowa. Read More	Joan Arnold, 85, of Creston, died Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Beverly Joan Hannah, daughter of Theodore (Ted) and Francis McKee Hannah was born August 12, 1935, in Shenandoah, Iowa. The family lived in Blanchard, Iowa until moving to Tingley, Iowa when Joan was two years old. She attended Tingley Public Schools and graduated in 1953. Joan had the honor of playing guard on the 1952 Tingley state qualifying basketball team. She was also a member of the school’s choir and sang solo and trio performances. Joan was united in marriage in 1953 to Robert Lee Arnold in Tingley. They farmed together until Bob was drafted into the United States Army in 1957. When he was stationed in Germany, the two traveled to six countries and attended the World’s Fair in Brussels, Belgium. Upon returning home from Germany, Bob and Joan began raising a family. Three sons were born into this union: Thomas Alan, Scott William, and David Wayne. Joan worked on the family farm raising chickens, milking cows, and planting large gardens; and she sold Avon and Tupperware. Joan enjoyed singing at countless weddings and funerals for many years. When her sons had all started school by 1975, Joan gained employment at Area Education Agencies (AEA) where she worked with students with disabilities. She enjoyed helping the children and building relationships with their parents. In the 1980s, Joan’s love for antiques led her to partnering in an antique shop in Afton, Iowa. She also traveled the area, selling and purchasing antiques at flea markets and other venues. Joan and Bob divorced later in life, and she moved to Creston, Iowa where she was an associate at Walmart for thirteen years. Many of those years were spent working in the garden center which brought her much joy. Joan moved to the Afton Care Center in December of 2016 and to the Greater Regional Hospice Home in July of 2020. Joan loved growing plants and flowers. She always grew plants inside her home while flowers, flower boxes, and bird feeders were found all around outside. She also loved listening to music. But the most important part of Joan’s life was her family. She loved supporting her sons in their childhood endeavors and continued supporting her grandchildren the same way. Joan planted trees and flowers with her grandkids, and together they hung bird feeders which led to countless hours of bird watching. She attended Easter egg hunts, music programs, birthday parties, tea parties and baptisms; and she observed numerous sporting events. She often traveled to Missouri, Texas and nearby places in Iowa to spend time with her kids and grandkids. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister. She is survived by her three sons: Thomas (Denise) Arnold - Murray, IA; Scott (Claudia) Arnold - Santa Rosa, TX; and David (Natalie) Arnold - Maryville, MO. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Clay (Maggie) Arnold, Cali (Scott) Benson, Corbin, Mason (Jenn), and Thane Simmons; Ryan, Janelle, Colin, Tyson, Addison, and Gracen Arnold. Great grandchildren are Dash and Duke Arnold and Raylan Simmons.
