Description	:	Beverley Lois Margaret (Henley) Shipley - Central Onslow, passed away peacefully, in the presence of family and loved ones, at the Halifax Infirmary on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the age of 59. Born on March 20, 1952, in Springhill, she was the daughter of the late Harold Albert Henley and Dorothy Lois (Wilson) Gauvin, and step-daughter of Oscar Gauvin. Born on March 20, 1952, in Springhill, she was the daughter of the late Harold Albert Henley and Dorothy Lois (Wilson) Gauvin, and step-daughter of Oscar Gauvin. Beverley was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Gauvin; her father, Harold Henley; step-father, Oscar Gauvin; brother, John (Jackie) Henley. She is survived by her brothers, Winston (Judy) Henley, Yukon Territory; Eugene Henley, Sudbury, Ontario; David (Mary) Henley, Mount Pleasant, Cumberland County; Douglas Henley Amherst; Al Henley, Kolbec, Cumberland County; aunts and uncles, Alice May (Leslie) Boyles, Jean Henley, Amherst; Ruby Pettigrew, Oxford; Helen Wilson, Westphal; Ron Henley, Cumberland County; son, Allan Henley (Karen Killawee); stepchildren, Rose (Vernon) Findlay, John (Krista), Crystal Shipley (Donald McNutt); her companion, Bill Tucker; his mother, Ruth Tucker; his daughter, Samantha. Last but not least, she was survived by her beloved grandchildren, Victoria, Stephanie, Kelsey, Tyler and Zachary Shipley, Luke and Kate Henley, Donald and Paula McNutt, Pamela and Neil Findlay, all of Truro. Bev, as she was known to most, (Grammie Bev to some) grew up in Oxford, the only girl amongst seven children. She never shied away from hard work; as a young woman she put in long hours in the strawberry and blueberry fields, and then as a waitress and factory worker, until she found her niche as an LPN. Bev worked at Townsview Estates for a number of years, and then spent more than 25 years as Senior Counselor at Henley Hill Farm, Cumberland Community Homes (CCH). She was dedicated to her clients, and treated them like family. She derived great joy from her grandchildren, and cared for the Shipley and Henley broods, whenever the opportunity arose. She loved fishing and seeing the countryside with Bill, and spending time talking, laughing and going on excursions with her close friends and family. Bev bravely, with incredible strength fought terminal cancer for four years, without complaint, all the while continuing her dedication to her roles of daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, companion and friend. She continued to work at CCH right up until her death. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, co-workers and those for whom she cared for many years. Special thanks go out to her "Tuesday" nurses at Colchester Regional Hospital who provided her chemotherapy treatments, and the special doctors and nurses from the Dickson Building. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bev's family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011. Reception will follow. Private family interment will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Oxford. If so desired, donations in Bev's memory to Colchester Food Bank or Rotary House are welcomed.
