LaHarpe--August 24th--Mrs. Biddie Samatha Brocks Evans passed away Wednesday afternoon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.E. McVey in Fairview district. Mrs. Evans was 89 years of age and was born in Louisville, Kentucky. When 16 years old, she moved with her parents to Missouri. She was converted at an early age and joined the Baptist church. At the age of 23, she married James R. Evans. Four years later, they moved to Bourbon City, Kansas. To this union, 7 children were born.... Mrs. Annie Hill of Kingsman, Kansas, Nora, died at the age of 2, Isaac Evans of Mapleton, Kansas, Mrs. Lizzie Parker of Moran, Mrs. Etta Wiggins, who died in 1909, Mrs. Sarah McVey of LaHarpe, and Mrs. Eva Pool of Bronson. Mrs. Evans has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sarah McVey for the last twenty years. Mr. Evans preceded her in death 40 years ago. She also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the LaHarpe Baptist Church will Rev. Collins conducting.
