Read More	Billie Blaine Eaton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Eaton was born at Fairmont, Nebraska, on October 15, 1920. He spent his early life at the place of his birth, attending school and graduating with the F.H.S. class of 1938. He delighted to attend Sunday school and on Easter Sunday, 1931, he united with Grace Methodist church, seeking to make his life full and complete. Graduating from high school during the days of the depression, he spent some time in the Civilian Conservation Camps. On 3 August 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and was sent to Port Townsend, Washington, for is basic training. Following was a period of sea duty, being later sent to "Cook and Bakery School," at the U.S. Coast Guard School, New London, Conn. He was then transferred to the west coast for patrol duty. The last two years were spent on the USS Everett, as chief commissary steward, on patrol duty along the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged 13 October 1945, at St. Louis, Mo., after more than five years serving his country. After a short period at home, he joined the Merchant Marine and was on his second trip to South America aboard the steamship, ESSO Portland, at the time of his passing, 1 March 1946 at Panama City, Panama. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ada Eaton; two brothers, Ralph and Robert; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis of Emison, Ind.; three aunts, Mrs. Dennis Seig of Fairmont; Miss Anna Davis and Mrs. Grover Smith of Emison, Ind.; a nephew and niece; and a host of friends. As announced in The Chronicle of March 7, telegraphic information reached his mother March 2, that Billie had been found drowned, March 1, at Panama City. The body was cremated, the urn containing the ashes arriving in Fairmont, Friday, March 15. Funeral services were held at the Fairmont Methodist church at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 17, in charge of the American Legion and Auxiliary, with Rev. L.A. Fishel, pastor, officiating. The singers, constituting a double quartet, included Mrs. G.N. Watkins, Mrs. W.R. Dorrance, Mrs. Charles Little, Miss Ruth Hurst,William K. Brown, Elwood Bender, Alden McFadden and Oliver Moul, with Mrs. A.A. Ashby as accompanist. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Color bearers, Victor Jensen and Harold Boren; color guard, John Johnson and Francis Rose. Pallbearers were Rex Plock, Ralph O'Connor, Donald Lutz, Harold Martin, Derald Murrell and Robert Bettger.
