Description	:	Billie Wynoma (Young) McCollester, formerly of the Cole's Chapel Community, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in Greenwood. She was born July 25, 1930 in the Chismville Community in Logan County to the late Bill Young and Thelma (Barnard) Young. She was 83 years old. She was also preceded in death by a brother, J.W. (Joe) Young; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Warren Oakes, Emmett and Anna Beth McCollester, and W.O. (Bill) White; and beloved son-in-law, Don Coleman. She was born July 25, 1930 in the Chismville Community in Logan County to the late Bill Young and Thelma (Barnard) Young. She was 83 years old. She was also preceded in death by a brother, J.W. (Joe) Young; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Warren Oakes, Emmett and Anna Beth McCollester, and W.O. (Bill) White; and beloved son-in-law, Don Coleman. Billie married Ray McCollester on December 25, 1948, to their union were born two daughters. Ray preceded her in death in 1980. She graduated from Booneville High School in 1947. In 1977, she received her Animal Veterinarian Technicians Certification from the University of Arkansas. She held the distinction of being the first woman in the state of Arkansas to receive an AVT certification. Her career spans many years working with veterinarians in Booneville, Paris, Little Rock, and Fort Smith. She was director of the Pulaski County Humane Society from 1987 to 1991, president of County Line PTA for 6 years, and served 17 years on the Springhill Cemetery Committee. In addition, she worked with the American Cancer Society, Red Cross, and Heart Fund, and from 1976 to 1977 she served as president of the Booneville Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Association, receiving the coveted award of Woman of the Year in 1978. Because she had such a big heart, she showed love and kindness to everyone. She was a beautiful soul who loved her family and friends to the fullest. Family meant everything to her. Although unable to see each as often as she would have liked, she always asked or talked about each one at every opportunity. When she could no longer remember who someone was, she still responded and gave love to the fullest. Billie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5th, at Cole's Chapel Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Brooks and Shirley Young officiating. Cremation and services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston. She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Kay Perry and husband Mike of Lonoke, Arkansas and Marilyn Jo Coleman of the Friendship Community; grandchildren, Patrick Luper and wife Angel of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Carla Perry Maddox of Memphis, Tennessee, Jay Perry of Lonoke, Stan Perry and wife Mary of Harvest, Alabama, Jeff Coleman and wife Micah of Flower Mound, Texas, and Paul Coleman of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Austin Luper, Kaylee Luper, Brandon Coleman, Morgan Howard, Kyra Coleman and Emmalene Claire Perry; sisters-in-law, Shirley Young of Booneville and Dorothy McCollester White of Roseville, California, a brother-in-law, Warren McCollester and wife Kathy of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
