Bill attended school in McCune, KS, and graduated from McCune High School. On June 26th, 1955, Bill and Peggy Kious married and three children were born to their union. He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on June 12, 1935 to A.L. and Ella (Thompson) Shanholtzer. Bill attended school in McCune, KS, and graduated from McCune High School. On June 26th, 1955, Bill and Peggy Kious married and three children were born to their union. They were divorced in 1975, but remained devoted to their children. On Aug. 21, 1985, Bill and Erma Cline married in a ceremony in Miami, Oklahoma. Erma passed away in 2005. His first employment was with McCune Co-op. Following a move to Oklahoma, Bill went to work in the propane industry, a career which spanned 15 years. His next career was with Pratt-Whitney, retiring in 1995. Bill next took employment with Rogers County Dist. 1 as an equipment operator. He retired from the County in 2006. In addition to the formal work that Bill did, he also raised cattle on his rural property. Though hard work, Bill enjoyed caring for his cattle. He loved traveling to rodeos. He attended the National Finals in Cheyenne, Wyoming several times, but the most important part of his life was his beloved family. He taught by example the value of hard work to both his children and grandchildren. In his recent illness, Bill was tenderly cared for by his children's mother, Peggy, with whom he had a close friendship. Family members who survive include his children, Don Shanholtzer (Patte) of Coupeville, WA, Pam Robertson (Neal)of rural Chelsea, OK, and Darrell Shanholtzer (Tammy) also of Chelsea, OK; his stepchildren, Kathy Parrett (Bill) of Nowata, OK, Harold Cline of West Virginia, and Raymond Cline also of Nowata, OK; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; his siblings, Norma Andrew of Pittsburg, KS, Charles Shanholtzer (Kathryn) of McCune, KS, and Roberta Nutt also of Pittsburg, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Erma. Graveside services will be Dec. 27, 2007 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.
