Bill passed away on May 7, 2015, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, NE, with his sister at his side. The youngest son of Charlotte (Woods) and Howard Jackson, Bill was born on February 10, 1954, at O’Neill, NE. With the exception of 2 years spent in Idaho, (1956-57) he was raised, educated and worked in and around Inman. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1972, where he participated in sports and made lifelong friends. Furthering his education, he spent two years at Northeast Technical Community College at Norfolk, NE, and completed his schooling at Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, where he graduated in 1977. On January 8, 1977, bill was united in marriage to Carol Ann Thramer, his high school sweetheart. She accompanied him to Dallas and upon his graduation, they made their first home in North Platte, NE. From there they moved to Boulder, CO, where in 1981 their son Travis was born. They were also reunited with their daughter Michelle. Bill and Carol were divorced in 1988 and he relocated to Scottsbluff, NE, and ultimately back to O’Neill because of health related issues. In his early thirties, Bill encountered health issues that provided a challenge for him the remainder of his life. Although compromised with these issues, he led a varied and full life, experiencing many adventures. He belonged to and was a very active member of the Elks in Scottsbluff, NE. He loved to play golf and ski and was an avid Husker Football fan, as well as being passionate about the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, playing cards, bowling and fishing. His travels and spirit of adventure took him to New York, Idaho, Australia and places in between. Bill loved life, his family, and good times with his friends. Left to cherish his memory are his son Travis, his wife Taren and granddaughter Makenna of Thorton, CO, his daughter Michelle Drobot of Austin, TX, his sister Janice Jean Reynolds of O’Neill, NE, and his brother Doug and wife Shirley of Boise, ID. Also left to mourn him are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Charlotte Jackson, his grandparents and many aunts and uncles. Many people touch our lives, but we are eternally grateful to those who help us in our time of need. We would like to thank Pat and Bob Pruden for all the help and many acts of kindness they provided to Bill and our family during Bill’s last years. Also, to those of you who visited and showed concern, you may never realize how that lifted his spirits and brightened his day. Our sincere thank you for your kindness. Those of us who loved him will forever miss his humor, his sly smile and his fun loving attitude. He leaves a huge void in our lives. His health struggles were many, but we know he is now at peace.
