He was born on Oct. 12, 1935 to Naith and Fannie (Moore) Shepherd in Prestonsburg, Ky. On Jan. 6, 1960 he married Martha Conley who survives in North Manchester, Ind. The couple is divorced. Other survivors include two sons, Fred Shepherd of North Manchester, Ind.; Keith Shepherd of Fla.; one daughter, Naidene (Kenneth) Moore of North Manchester, Ind.; three grandsons, Daniel and Jeremy Moore, and Harrison Henry Shepherd; one brother, Jewel E.( Doris) Shepherd of Forest; five sisters, Annie (Eugene) Patton of Findlay, Shirley... He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Shepherd, and three sisters, infant Sharlene Shepherd, Oval Fraley and Carolyn Adkins. Mr. Shepherd was a laborer for Pike Lumber and Sawmill in Akron, Ind. He was also a member of the Holden Missionary Baptist Church for several years. Services were held Feb. 7, 2000 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger with the Rev. James Holbrook and Rev. Virgil Hendrickson officiating. Burial was at Preston Cemetery in Alger. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and or the American Cancer Society.
