Description	:	Blaine Adrian Farrar was born on June 19, 1926 at his parent's home north of Maywood. He departed this earth on January 26th, 2014 at his home in Curtis, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years , Eileen (Shirley), his parents, Vance and Fern Farrar, two brothers Lynn and Dale and one sister, Veryl Tuttle. He is survived by his wife Dorsie, daughters Sheila Sautter (Mike), Grand Island, NE, Sheri Farrar, Omaha, NE, Cindy McConnell (Mike), North Platte, NE and Sandra Frahm (Jeff), Oakland, NE, his sister Eileen Furrow and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He also is survived by 3 stepchildren, Monte, Pam and Lonnie Hueftle and 5 step-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. Blaine graduated from Maywood High School in 1943 and began farming with his father on the place his parents purchased west of Maywood. They raised wheat, corn and cattle. On June 4th, 1945, Blaine was inducted into the U.S Army. After completion of basic training he was assigned overseas in Leghorn, Italy until his discharge in January, 1947, at which time he returned to the family farm. On August 15th, 1947, he married Eileen Shirley with whom he had 4 daughters. Shortly after their marriage, Blaine took over the farm operations. He continued farming and raising cattle but also started a career as an auctioneer and realtor. In 1959, Blaine completed auctioneer training at the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa and joined Phillips and Son Auction Service which later became Phillips and Farrar Auctioneers. He also received his real estate broker's license in 1960. In 1979, he and Eileen moved from the farm to Curtis, Nebraska and established Farrar Auction and Real Estate. He continued in the real estate business until 1994. In 1993, Eileen passed away. Blaine married Dorsie Rupe Hueftle of Eustis, Nebraska on April 17, 1999 and they continued to live in Curtis where both were actively involved in church and community activities. Blaine was active in serving his community and was a member of many organizations to include the Lion's Club, the American Legion, Area 15 Stockgrowers, McCook Elks Club and the Masonic Lodge He served on the Board of Directors of the AmFirst Bank in McCook, Nebraska for several years. Blaine was a life-long member of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association, serving on its Board of Directors as well as serving as Vice President and President. He was selected as Auctioneer of the Year in 1988 and in 2004 was inducted into the Nebraska Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Curtis United Methodist Church. Register Book signing will be on Wednesday, January, 29, 2014 held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; 1:00-8:00 PM with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm. Memorial Services will be held at First United Methodist Church - Curtis, January 30, 2014 at 10:30 am with Rev. Bonnie Forney and Pastor Ray Norris officiating. Interment will follow in the Maywood Cemetery, Maywood, Nebraska.
