He was raised on the family farm between Antler and Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1987. He received a welding diploma from Bismarck State College. He was born December 8, 1968, in Kenmare, to Kenny and Shilleen (Coulter) Southam. He was raised on the family farm between Antler and Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1987. He received a welding diploma from Bismarck State College. Blaine worked for Stevens Welding, Glenburn, in 1988. He worked a few years at Gravel Products in Minot, prior to working for Gates Manufacturing, Lansford, for 15 years. In 2008, he started Southam Welding, a company he operated until his death. In addition to his welding career, he farmed and raised cattle. Blaine married Trudi Smith on October 1, 1993. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood, and served in the parish council. He liked collecting old things, hunting, and loved his dog, Lady. Each evening, he had a favorite saying, “Time to call it a day.” Family: wife of 25 years, Trudi Southam, Sherwood; children, Seth, Ethan and Hannah Southam, all of Sherwood; father, Kenny (Lamay) Southam, Bottineau; siblings, Bernie (Rachael) Southam, Bismarck, Brenda Haygood, Mohall, Boyd (Chantel) Southam, Sherwood, Roxanne (Jarett) Ellingson, Myakka, FL, Diana (Jeremy) Mueller, Rapid City, SD, and Tyler (Christine) Southam, Del Rio, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Blaine was preceded in death by: his mother, Shilleen Southam; paternal grandparents, George and Estelle Southam; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Ann Coulter; uncle, Ed Southam; father- and mother-in-law, Willis and Anna Smith; and brother-in-law, Bobby Whetter.
