Description	:	DANVILLE - Blanche Herndon Holley, formerly of 15640 Mt. Cross Rd., Dry Fork, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Piney Forest Health Care Center, Danville. Born November 28, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Hilton Herndon, Sr. and the late Lucy Martin Herndon. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Dan River Mills as an inspector. She was married to Alton Slayton Holley who preceded her in death November 3, 2006. Born November 28, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Hilton Herndon, Sr. and the late Lucy Martin Herndon. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Dan River Mills as an inspector. She was married to Alton Slayton Holley who preceded her in death November 3, 2006. She was a member of the Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as pianist for a number of years. She is survived by a daughter, Linda H. Haynie and husband, Larry of Danville; a son, Melvin S. Holley of Collinsville; two grandchildren, Miranda and Mitchell Holley; a sister, Rebecca Mumpower of Calhoun, GA; two brothers Malcolm Herndon of Franklin Springs, GA and Eugene Herndon of Dry Fork. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Orville Herndon, Harold Herndon, Len Herndon and Carroll Herndon, and three sisters, Doris Reynolds, Alma Wright and Barbara Guerry. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Hearp and the Rev. Malcolm Herndon officiating. Interment will follow in the Slayton Family Cemetery, Callands. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, July 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the residence of James and Karen Reynolds, 341 Hinesville Road in the Dry Fork community and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services at the church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Swansonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 16300 Mt. Cross Rd., Dry Fork, VA 24549 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1225 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541. Norris Funeral Services, Inc., and Crematory, Danville is serving the Holley family.
