Blanche was a graduate of Amanda High School, a member of the Amanda- Clearcreek Alumni Association and the Local and State PERS. She was retired from the Fairfield School for Boys and was a homemaker. She issurvived by daughter, Evelyn (Gordon) Ricks of Baltimore, Ohio; son, Donald (Betty) Smith ofCircleville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; brother, Ralpr (Ruth) Hedges of Marion, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Catharine Hedges of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merril H. Smit; and two brothers, Lloyd and Robert Hedges. No Calling hours will be observed. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Amanda Township Cemetery, with the Rev. Julian Taggart officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Amanda Presbyterian Church Roof Fund, c/o Pat Hastings, 7654 Amanda Southern Road, Amanda, Ohio 43102.
