Champlin Thursday, April 30, 2015 CONNEAUT — Donald L. Champlin, age 75, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Tuesday evening, April 28, 2015, at his residence with his family at his side. Don was born on Jan. 4, 1940, in Garrettsville, Ohio, the son of Roy L. and Blanche (Mitchem) Champlin. Don entered the United States Army in 1963 and served until 1965. He was honorably discharged in April 1969, after serving as a U.S.A.R. Don worked for many years at the former True Temper Factory and later retired from General Aluminum in 2003. Don was a member of Amboy United Methodist Church. He loved to hunt and turkey shoot. He also enjoyed playing pool, casinos, bingo, fishing and camping. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Shaffer; four half-brothers; and one half-sister. Don is survived by his wife, Dolores V. (Knox) Champlin of Conneaut, whom he married May 6, 1966; daughters, Freida (Ray) Waldron of Jefferson, Diane (Don) Senger of Sugarland, Texas, Darla (Art) Stitt of Kingsville, Dawn (Keith) Rogers of Barberton and Delores (Randy) Adams of Ashtabula; and a son, Darryl Wolfgang of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Violet Manes. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, at Amboy United Methodist Church, 550 W. Main Road, Conneaut, with Pastor Mary Pryor officiating.
